Union Minister for Education Dr. Chaw Chaw Sein, together with Deputy Minister Dr. Zaw Myint and senior officials, on April 24 inspected ongoing preparations at Yangon University’s Diamond Jubilee Hall.

In meeting with the Executive Committee members of Myanmar Academy of Arts and Science, the Union Minister outlined the launch of the Centre for Research and Innovation (CRI) at universities in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon, and Mandalay to promote practical, innovative research for national development.

The Union Minister emphasized collaboration among scientists, quality over quantity in research papers, and connecting with international researchers for greater impact. Afterwards, the Union Minister and party inspected the Diamond Jubilee Hall.

The Union Minister then met with the Pro-Rectors and department heads at Yangon University’s Convocation Hall, emphasizing that the 100-Day Plan to be implemented with the new government focuses on research activities. She highlighted that the CRI must be established within this period to produce innovative, practical research that benefits the nation. She stressed collaboration across different academic departments, prioritizing quality over quantity in research papers, and positioning Yangon University as a leading university in research.

Following this, Deputy Minister Dr. Zaw Myint presented plans for establishing the CRI, ensuring high-quality research papers, upgrading university curricula, and implementing effective teaching and management systems within the 100-day timeframe. Attendees also discussed strategies to support researchers in producing high-quality research papers.

Later, the Union Minister reviewed curriculum development with the National Curriculum Committee, focusing on vocational, agricultural, and ethical education.

On April 25, the Union Minister visited a pilot “Football for School Programme” at Basic Education School No. 1 in East Dagon Township and oversaw the facilities at Yangon University of Economics in Ywathagyi, and sports facilities in Thahton Road of Kamayut Township. The Union Minister also visited the Yangon Universities' Boat Club and inspected the conditions for upgrade.
