88th MRCSCC Meeting: MOH UM delivered the opening speech

The opening ceremony of the 88th Myanmar Red Cross Society Central Council Meeting was held at the Myanmar Red Cross Society Headquarters in Nay Pyi Taw on February 9.

Union Minister for Health Prof. Dr. Thet Khaing Win attended and delivered a speech. In his address, the Union Minister said that the Myanmar Red Cross Society is an organization with distinctive characteristics and numerous qualities among those carrying out humanitarian work.

As a prominent example, it was clearly seen that not only Red Cross volunteers from the Nay Pyi Taw Council territory, Mandalay Region and Sagaing Region, but also Red Cross volunteers from other regions and states immediately went and assisted the people affected by the earthquake that struck in March 2025.

He urged that, as the Myanmar Red Cross Society is a national-level organization, it is necessary to strictly adhere to and implement Red Cross fundamental principles in humanitarian work and disaster response operations, and to place special emphasis on working for the benefit of the nation and the people.

Next, the Chairman of the Myanmar Red Cross Society, Prof. Dr. Myo Nyunt, explained the society's social welfare activities for 2025 and showed a commemorative video of the Red Cross Movement in honor of the 88th Red Cross Central Council Meeting. The 88th Red Cross Central Council Meeting will be held for two days from February 9 to 10, it is reported.
