7th Maramagyi National Day: Rakhine people celebrate its National Day

7th Maramagyi National Day of Rakhine Ethnic People was held in Sittway on 14th May. First, Maramagyi ethnic people entertained with traditional dances.

The Patron Sayadaw of Maramagyi ethnic people gave Ovada Gahta. Later, member of Rakhine State Government, the State Minister for Road Transport Police Col. Thet Lwin gave an honourary speech.

An official from Maramagyi Culture and Literature Association explained about observing Maramagyi National Day. The State Minister for Road Transport the presented 3 million kyats for observing the celebration.

Maramagyi National Day was organized Maramagyi Maha Bodhi Society. Maramagyi people that is the Rakhine ethnic tribe are inhabiting in Sittway, Ponna Kyun, Mrauk-U, Min Pyar, Maung Taw and Kyauk Phyu of Rakhine State, in Mandalay Region and Shan State.

Currently, the population is about 15,000. Likewise, the 9th Rakhine National Day was held in Sunday. The ceremony was opened by playing Rakhine traditional drum.

Officials gave an introductory speech and explained about holding the ceremony and also read the messages sent by Arakan National Party and Maro ethnic people marking the celebration. Rakhine Traditional dance troupe also performed the entertainments.
