Acting President and Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission Senior General Min Aung Hlaing sent a message to mark the 78th Chin National Day, which falls on February 20.
In his message, the Acting President extended his best wishes to the Chin ethnic people and all citizens of Myanmar. He honored the historical contributions of Chin leaders and people in Myanmar’s independence struggle and nation-building efforts. He said February 20 was designated as Chin National Day to commemorate the abolition of the traditional feudal system in 1948 and the establishment of a democratic administrative system in Falam.
The Acting President also addressed current security challenges, urging all ethnic groups, including the Chin people, to work together to end violence and restore peace and stability. He highlighted the government’s efforts in economic development, agriculture, livestock, MSME production, education, and healthcare.
He reaffirmed plans to transfer state responsibilities to the newly elected government following the 2025 multi-party democracy general election and called for continued cooperation to build a peace and developed nation.
