75th Martyrs’ Day: Ceremony Held At Martyrs’ Mausoleum In Yangon

The 75th Martyrs’ Day Ceremony was held on the 19th of July 2022 at the Martyrs’ Mausoleum in Yangon.

At the Ceremony, Vice Chairman of State Administration Council [SAC] Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win, members of the SAC, Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Ko Ko, in his capacity as Chairman of the Central Committee on Organizing the 75th Martyrs’ Day and many other officials laid wreaths at the tombs of Bogyoke Aung San and martyrs, paid tributes and observed a two-minute silence.

Also, family members of the martyrs laid wreaths in front of the monuments. Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein and regional ministers also laid wreaths. Martyrs' Day is one of the most significant days in Myanmar history and is a memorial day for Myanmar people.

It commemorates to honour fallen national heroes including General Aung San and eight others who sacrificed their lives on July 19 in 1947 within the country independence movement. Myanmar people hold the important historical event by laying wreaths and paying salute to fallen leaders at the Martyrs’ Mausoleum, hoisting the State Flag at half-mast at all government offices and organizations to commemorate the fallen leaders as a symbol of grief, and also vehicles on road stopped for a while and honked their horns too.
