75th Independence Day Commemoration: Award ceremony, new asphalt road in Mawlamyine

To commemorate the 75th Diamond Jubilee Independence Day, the final and award ceremony of the Mon State Chief Minister's Trophy multi-department men’s football tournament took place on Saturday evening. Chief Minister U Zaw Lin Tun and many other officials as well as football enthusiasts watched and enjoyed the final match, General Administration Department Team against Department of Social Welfare Team at the student stadium in Mawlamyine.

And, the Chief Minister and officials presented the best player awards, cash prizes and the trophy to the winning teams. Also on Sunday, to commemorate the 75th Diamond Jubilee Independence Day, the Chief Minister opened the new asphalt road in PutTaLuuKone Village of Mawlamyine.

There, in his remarks, the Chief Minister said that the government has been making efforts for the improvement of living standards of rural people and the balanced development of urban and rural areas. He also called on locals to maintain roads and bridges in the area in cooperation with concerned departments. It’s reported that the old road was only 12 feet wide and this new one is 24 feet wide.
