75th Anniversary Tatmadaw (Navy): Commissioning Ceremony of Navy Vessels

In honour of the 75th Anniversary Diamond Jubilee of Tatmadaw (Navy), a ceremony to commission naval vessels took place at No.3 Naval Wharf in Yangon on Saturday, with the attendance of Chairman of State Administration Council Commander- in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing. Chief of Staff (Navy) Vice-Admiral Zwe Win Myint explained the salient points of the naval vessels.

It was followed by handing over of documents of the naval vessels to the commander of the Naval Fleet and the Director General of Myanmar Coast Guard. The Commander-in-Chief (Navy) later presented the scale model of the vessels and commemorative emblem of the navy vessels that have been constituted during the 11 years period from the 65th anniversary to the 75th one to the Senior General.

The ceremony continued with the declaration of the commissioning of the naval vessels, raising of the State Flag, the Navy Flag and the commissioning flag, as well as the ringing of the bell for eight times and other commissioning procedures.

The Senior General then visited the Navy Vessels including 2 fast patrol boats, 2 offshore crafts and 1 water carrier vessel, as well as other commissioning vessels and submarine warship (Minye Theinkhathu).

The Senior General later took the salute of the Guard of Honour on the dais on board the war naval vessel (Mottama) and inspected it.

At that time, war ships Yan Taing Aung and Yan Gyi Aung gave a 21-gun salute to the Senior General, followed by the salute of Frigate KyanSitTha, Frigate Sinphyushin, corvette TabinShweHti and the patrol boats led by Frigate Aung Zeya, saluted the Senior General in Single Line Formation and Line Abreast.

Then, the Commander-in- Chief (Navy) presented the shell of the first fired gun salute to the Senior General as a commemorative gift.

The Senior General later presented certificates of honor, cash rewards and gifts to the officers and other ranks of the ships that took part in the naval show and those who took part in building the commissioned vessels.

In his speech, the Senior General said the best guarantee for the perpetuation of the sovereignty is possessing the powerful and efficient defence force. In building the Tatmadaw (Navy) phase by phase, it reached to the first phase of Three-dimensional Combat Ready Navy which can provide full protection to the Myanmar water territory.

Efforts will be made to reach the level of Adjacent Force Project Navy/ Regional Navy and Blue Water Navy Ambition. He stressed the needs to make constant training to operate the powerful navy vessels in order to reach the goal of the Tatmadaw (Navy).

The Senior General and party left No.3 Navy Wharf for Ayeyawady Naval Headquarters, and on the way, the Senior General and Wife cut the cake to mark the 75th Anniversary of Tatmadaw (Navy).

Then, the Senior General, retired Commanders-in-Chief (Navy) and Commanders-in-Chief (Air) were given souvenir gifts by the Commander-in-Chief (Navy). At Ayeyawady Naval Headquarters, the Senor General and wife formally opened the Exhibition to mark the 75th Anniversary of Tatmadaw (Navy), and toured round the exhibition.

The Senior General and party later enjoyed the performance of the Tatmadaw (Navy) Military Band and dance troupe and presented bonus cash to them. They also enjoyed the fireworks displays in honour of the 75th anniversary Diamond Jubilee Tatmadaw (Navy).
