







75th Anniversary Diamond Jubilee Celebration of the Medical Corps Day was held at the Convocation Hall of the Defence Services Nursing and Paramedical Academy in Yangon on Saturday.
Chairman of the State Administration Council Commander in Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attended the ceremony, and formal unveiled the signboard of the 75th Anniversary Diamond Jubilee Celebration of the Medical Corps Day.
The Prime Minister later made a speech, saying that during the time of regaining Myanmar’s Indepence according to Aung San-Atlee Agreement, a Medical Corps was needed for the country.
On 1st October 1947, the Office of the Directorate of Medical Services was established, and the day was designated as the Medical Corps Day.
Members of the Medical Corps have been providing medical services not only in the front lines but also at the military hospitals for the health care of the military officers, Tatmadawmen, family members and local people. Members of the Medical Corps also took the front role in providing health care services for the people in the time of natural disasters, especially the aftermath of Cyclones Nargis and Giri.
Moreover, the Medical Corps members are providing the mobile medical services with accelerated momentum after 2010.
At present, 67 military hospitals and 54 COVID-19 treatment centers are opened for providing treatment for the public. Members of Medical Corps also cooperate with the international organizations to share experience and promoting medical technology.
Recently, Myanmar Medical Rally Team took part in the International Army Game, held in Russia and ranked at No.4 among the 16 participating teams.
During the 75 years period, 772 members of Medical Corps received the golden jubilee medal and 2,603 received the diamond jubilee medal. Moreover, there are 152 members who received the State Level Outstanding Titles.
The Senior General urged all members of the Military Corps to continue providing threatment to the Tatmadawmen and families. The Director of the Medical Services later explained the brief history of the Medical Corps, followed by the screening of the Documentary Video. The Senior General later greeted the retired officers of the Medical Corps, and viewed the commemorative booths.
Earlier in the day, The Senior General and party attended the opening ceremony of 8-storey new building and special threatment center at No.1 Military Hospital (1000-Bed). After formal opening of the ceremony, the Senior General unveiled the signboard of the center.
The official later explained the purpose of the construction of the new facilities and the Senior General instructed for long term maintenance of the facilities for providing health care services systematically.
They later viewed round the center, as well as the patients who have received the very first operation of liver tranplanting. The Senior General also presented honorary cash to the Professors and Medical officers who performed the liver tranplant successfully.
