75th Anniversary Martyrs’ Day: A Special Exhibition To Be Displayed At Bogyoke Museum

Bogyoke Aung San Museum will open for public on the 75th Anniversary Martyrs’ day which falls on 19th July. And it is also being prepared to display the General Aung San’s memories inside and outside of the museum.

Martyrs' Day is one of the most significant days in Myanmar history and is a memorial day for Myanmar people.

It commemorates to honor fallen national heroes including General Aung San and 8 others who sacrificed their lives on July 19 in 1947within the country independence movement.

HninHnin, Staff Officer, National Museum, Yangon said “At the entrance of museum, we will display 15 posters concerning General Aung San from the Defence Services Museum. At the exit way, there will be showcase other posters featuring General’s speeches and his lifestyle. When people enter from entrance, they will see the dining room and we will display a new array of early life of General, his university student life, his family life and Tatmadaw leader life there. We displayed the General’s horoscope with photos in last year. But this year, we will show the hardcopy of his horoscope.”

This year, there will be a special exhibition with digital technology system that is different from past years, she added.

HninHnin, Staff Officer, National Museum, Yangon said “In the living room, we will display the painting of General Aung San, illustrating he is doing agriculture which is handed over by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and irrigation for the special exhibition on the Martyrs’ day. When people go to upstairs, they will see the General’s bedroom, his children’s bedroom, his library room and meeting room. The Bogyoke’s speeches are displayed on a touch screen and all people can read and touch on it. At the right side of the stair, there will also be a hologram of BogyokeAung San.”

The Bogyoke Aung San Museum (Yangon) was the residence of General Aung San and his family just before his assassination in July 1947 and it is also a place where his memory is preserved. Bogyoke Aung San Museum will be opened for public with a special exhibition and people can visit from 8 am to 4 pm on the 75th Anniversary Martyr’s day.
