








The 70th plenary session attended by the members of Myanmar Calender Advisory Board was held at the fine art high school (Kanbawza avenue compound), Kabaaye Pagoda Road, Yangon on 10th March. Present at the meeting were the Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Ko Ko and officials, Chairman Sayadaw and members of Myanmar Calender Advisory Board.
First, the Chairman Sayadaw of Myanmar Calender Advisory Board Dr. Baddanta PyinNyienDa delivered an opening address.
Next, the Union Minister U Ko Ko submitted a request to the chairman, vice chairmen and members of Calender Advisory Board to presere and share the Myanmar traditional calculating methods of Calendar and written methods of Maha ThingyanSar carried sine the many years ago by addressing the interest of Sasana, country and national.
Then, the director-general of fine art department clarified regarding with the organizing 70th plenary session of Myanmar Calender Advisory Board and the members of board reported the miscellaneous matters followed by the discussion of Chairman Sayadaw on the necessaries.
In his speech of conclusion, the Union Minister said to offer one year diploma on the knowledge and skills of compiling calendar as a subject in the National University of Arts and Culture (Yangon), reading papers on the calendar chronology in the paper reading sessions organized by the department of fine arts under the ministry of religious affairs and culture and to hold the 6 monthly meeting of the members of the board.
The plenary session will be organized for five days and the ThingyanSar for 1384 Myanmar Era and main version of calendar for 1384-1385 Myanmar Era (2023 Christian Year) will be compiled and approved.
In the afternoon, the union minister inspected the major renovation works of Maha Pasana Cave at Thirimingalar Kabaaye hill, Mayangone Township and gave necessary instructions.
