5th Day of Matriculation Exam: Kachin State visited exam centers on Myitkhina

The 2026 Matriculation Examination commenced on March 11th at examination centers nationwide. In Kachin State, the examination is being conducted at a total of 23 centers.

On March 16th, the fifth day of the examinations, students sat for the Physics and History subjects. In the morning, the Kachin State Chief Minister, U Khat Htein Nan, inspected the peaceful conduct of the matriculation examination at the examination center located at Basic Education High School No. (2) in Myitkyina. He instructed responsible officials to systematically assist in ensuring students can take the exam safely and securely.

Subsequently, at the examination supervisor's office, he met with the teachers on duty. They reported on the examination procedures being followed at the center, which includes students from the aforementioned school, Basic Education Middle School No.3 (sub High school), and private high schools Pyinnyar Bank , K.S.S School, and IPSS-2 Private High School. Out of a registered total of 520 students, 507 were sitting for the exam.

Based on this report, the Chief Minister instructed them to supervise and manage the process to ensure the exam can be taken peacefully. He then toured the examination halls to observe students taking the exam calmly. Following this, the Chief Minister visited the health care team office to inspect their operations.

He instructed them to make necessary arrangements to provide full health care services and provided them with a cash reward. Later in the day, he attended a public awareness and information meeting organized by the Kachin State Local Committee for Support and Cooperation regarding the Confluence, Upper part and Basin of Ayeyawady River Hydropower Project at the indoor stadium located within the public sports ground.

At the event, the State Chief Minister urged the attendees including market vendors, young people striving daily for their livelihood and development, and local parents and residents to actively participate in an open discussion. He stated that information regarding the Confluence, Upper part and Basin of Ayeyawady River Hydropower Project would be presented clearly and encouraged parents and the public to frankly discuss their views and concerns, emphasizing the need for collective cooperation.

Following his remarks, members of the Kachin State Local Committee for Support and Cooperation concerning the Confluence, Upper part and Basin of Ayeyawady River Hydropower Project explained key facts about the Myitsone Hydropower Project, its potential benefits for regional and national development, employment opportunities, and examples of major dam projects internationally.

During the session, attending local residents asked questions about the project and expressed their aspirations and views regarding potential benefits. Committee members provided clarifications in response. In the afternoon, the State Chief Minister, accompanied by Commander of North Command Ma-J Gen. Aung Zaw Htwe, senior military officers, State Ministers, and departmental officials, inspected the preparations and conditions at Myitkyina Airport to ensure its operational readiness for flights, it’s reported.
