





Mandalay School for the Deaf that was opened in 1981, organized its 42nd Anniversary on Tuesday.
Mandalay School for the Deaf is undertaking measures for improving and protectingdisabled life that is one of the tasks of the Department of Social Welfare.
Myat Myat Soe, Headmistress, Mandalay School for the Deaf, said " In 1981, the School for the Deaf was handed over to the Department of Social Welfare. The school was originally founded by the Principal of Royal Dioceason High School and Mrs. Smith. We teach formal education from KG to Grade-7 in the school. According to inclusive education program, we allow Grade-8 to Grade-12 to pursue education in the other schools by contact with the Ministry of Education. "
Currently, students from the Schools for the Deaf are trained in not only in education but also in social activities.
Myat Myat Soe, Headmistress, Mandalay School for the Deaf, said " Our students can do it. They have abilities to be able to perform. We are very pleased to support them. We are very satisfied when we see the students who are nurtured by us are able to perform like other ordinary ones."
There are a total of 156 students including students from Mandalay city and boarding school students at Mandalay School for the Deaf.
