The 33rd Seki Oil Wrestling festival took place in Mugla, Turkiye

The 33rd Seki Oil Wrestling festival took place in Mugla, Turkiye bringing together traditional wrestlers, known as “pehlivans,” from across Türkiye. Despite the heavy rain, the wrestlers competed fiercely on the muddy field, keeping the centuries-old ancestral sport alive.

Turkish Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Isikhan attended the event, emphasizing the government’s continued support for traditional sports and athletes to pass this cultural heritage to future generations. The traditional event concluded with a medal, trophy, and prize money ceremony for the top competitors.
