





The 2nd Bovine Beauty Pageant was held at Pyin Ma Pin Livestock farm in Mingaladon Township of Yangon Region on Saturday.
The Department of Livestock Breeding and Veterinary under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation organized the event,aiming to promote livestock sector by farming good quality dairy cattle and producing good quality dairy products.
It also aims to highlight the beauty and livestock production as well as the economic development of rural animal husbandry, and to raise awareness about the value and behavior of the livestock animals.
Region Staff Officer, Dept. of Livestock Breeding and Veterinary, Dr. Toe Min Tun said “This contest aims for boosting the livestock breeding, especially the breeding of cattle. It also aims for development of state’s economy by promoting the livestock breeding sector.”
The contest was held under 7 categories, and livestock breeders from various villages and townships in Yangon Region took part in the contest.
A total of 119 various cattle and 76 goats were on display at the Bovine Beauty Pageant.
Kyaw Swar Win, Pilakhat Village, Kyauk Tan Township said “We have prepared one month ahead of the contest. We fed our cattle very well to be good looking in the contest. Winning prize is not our priority. We just want to showcase the beauty of our cattle to take pride for our village.”
15 booths of animal feeds and medicines as well as the products produced form the livestock farms were also exhibited during the contest.
The participants at the contest can grab the opportunities to promote domestic dairy cattle, goat and sheep farming by exchanging breeding techniques among breeders.
