20th ASEAN University Games: VSG Hands Over Victory Flag To University Sports Team

The victory flag was handed over to the university sports team representing Myanmar that will compete in the 20th ASEAN University Games with a ceremony at the Ministry of Education in Nay Pyi Taw on Wednesday.
Chairman of Education, Health and Human Resources Development Committee, Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice Senior General Soe Win gave a speech at the event, saying that the ASEAN Universities Games is held every 2 years by the ASEAN University Council and the host country holds the games in rotation.
ASEAN University Sports Council was formed in 1980 and the ASEAN University Games has started to be held in Thailand since 1981. Myanmar hosted the Games in 2018. The ASEAN University Sports Council holds the Games with the aims to promote unity among ASEAN countries, to thrive the friendship spirit, to have mutual understanding among the countries and to have ASEAN spirit.
In the 20th ASEAN University Games, 33 Myanmar university athletes will compete in 4 kind of sports; football, archery, Sepak Takraw and Wushu. The Vice Senior General added that the universities have selected the athletes who meet the set norms and criteria for the Games and he expressed his belief that the University student athletes have the competence skill in technique, high performance in sports and good qualifications and they are ready to participate in the competition with full strength.
The Vice Senior General called on the participating University student athletes to participate in the games in line with sports rules and regulations while bringing medals for the country and promoting the dignity of the state through sports.
Later, the Vice Senior General handed over the victory flag to Rector of Yangon University Dr Tin Maung Tun who is the leader of Myanmar university sports contingent. Union Minister for Education Dr Nyunt Pe also explained about preparations of Myanmar sports team for the game. The Vice Senior General then cordially greeted the sport contingent that will participate in the 20th ASEAN University Games.
