



The first meeting of Food, Agriculture and Forestry Working Committee under ASEAN Economic Community-AEC 2025 was held at the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation in Nay Pyi Taw on Tuesday.
At the meeting, Chairman of the Working Committee, Deputy Minister Dr AungGyi said that of the three pillars of the ASEAN Community, 22 Working Committees have been set up in each sector to carry out the activities included in the ASEAN Economic Community 2025 and the Food, Agriculture and Forestry Working Committee is one of them. The Working Committee is responsible for peace and prosperity of ASEAN social community, implementation for a single market and production-based, competitive, inclusive and sustainable food, agriculture and forestry sector.
The committee has 13 responsibilities to achieve the goals of ASEAN Food, Agricultural and Forestry sector cooperation. He urged concerned officials to make efforts to prepare and report on the progress of works. Senior Officials Meeting of the ASEAN Ministers on Agriculture and Forestry (SOM-AMAF) and the Meeting of ASEANMinisters on Agriculture and Forestry (AMAF) are annually held. There are 11 priority tasks approved for food, agriculture and forestry sector in 2021. In 2022, 19 priority projects in respective sectors will be submitted to the 44th Meeting of the ASEAN Ministers on Agriculture and Forestry (AMAF) that will be held in October 2011 for approval.
