






The Global Dhamma Foundation University held its 1st Convocation ceremony at the University in Thanlyin Township, Yangon on Sunday. The diploma degree was conferred to a total of 172 monks for the 1st time.
The program aimed to support the missionary tasks and propagation of Buddha Sasana.
Rector, Dr. Ashin Pyinnya Sekka, Global Dhamma Foundation University (Thanlyin) said "Diploma degree was conferred to 172 monks who completed 3-year diploma course. The global Dhamma Foundation College was established in 2016. We accepted about 100 monks to start diploma course. Due to the contribution of a well-wisher from Kyauktan, the global Dhamma Foundation university was established in 2019. Currently, there are more than 270 monks in the University and over 150 monks are accommodated in the college."
Chairman Sayadaw of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Abhidhaja Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotika Bhamo Sayadaw Dr Bhaddanta Kumara Bhivamsa also graced the ceremony and presented certificates of appointment to professors of the Dhamma Universities.
Tun Tun, Pro-rector, Global Dhamma Foundation University (Thanlyin) said "Sayadaws who are teaching lectures at the Global Dhamma Foundation University are doctorate and PhD. Degree holders from Sri Lanka and India. Generally, all the teachings of Buddha are taught in English. That’s why, foreign trainees can attend our university. The management and leadership skills are also included in the course to be able to keep record systematically in the missionary tasks by using modern technologies for the propagation of Buddha Sasana."
The university is conducting one-year and 3-year B.A diploma courses for monks from all parts of the country, aiming for perpetuation and propagation of the Buddha Sasana.
