17th Eco Expo Asia: MONREC Union Minister attended the expo in Hong Kong

Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi attended 17th Eco Expo Asia in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, at the invitation of Secretary for Environment and Ecology of Hong Kong Mr. Tse Chin-wan.

On 14th December, the Union Minister made a speech at the opening ceremony of the expo. In his speech, the Union Minister said Myanmar possesses abundant opportunities for development based on eco-system like other countries in Asia Region.

The country is implementing for reducing climate change and achieving carbon neutrality by laying down the policy and strategies for the sustainable development. Moreover, the Green Economy Policy was also drafted and according to the policy, efforts are being made for development of renewal energy, generating waste powered energy and green transportation development.

The Union Minister highlighted that Myanmar is always ready to make cooperation with the regional and international partner countries for accelerating the environmental conservation works and tackling the challenges for environmental affairs.

The Union Minister, together with the invited guests and diplomats, viewed the booths, displayed at the Eco Expo Asia. On the 15th, the Union Minister met with Secretary Mr. Tse Chin-wan and discussed for manufacturing of electric vehicles, development of green building, energy saving, green transport, and waste reduction.
