16 Days of Activism: 16 Days of activism against gender-based violence held

In the morning of December 8, the ceremony for the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence was held at the City Hall in Bago. The Region Chief Minister U Myo Swe Win and his wife attended and presided over the event.

First, Bago Region Chief Minister U Myo Swe Win stated that November 25 has been designated as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. The period from November 25 to December 10 is designated as the International 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, which is commemorated annually. In the present era, with the rapid advancement of digital technology, there is a misuse of this progress, targeting vulnerable and less knowledgeable individuals to exploit them as victims for personal gain. In incidents of violence against women, the use of digital technology has increased such violence. Therefore, the Chief Minister urged everyone to work together to eliminate digital technology-based violence against women.

Subsequently, the Region Chief Minister and his wife, along with officials, watched an awareness-raising video clip for the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.

Following that, discussions of the departments were held on various topics related to the elimination of violence against women.

Afterwards, Bago Region Chief Minister U Myo Swe Win, his wife and officials presented commemorative gifts to the speakers. They also warmly went around greeting the attendees of the ceremony.
