13th Beijing Xiangshan Forum : Myanmar delegation led by MOD UM attended the forum

A Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister for Defence General Tun Aung attended the 13th Beijing Xiangshan Forum, held in Beijing from 15 to 17 September 2026, at the invitation of Admiral Dong Jun, Minister of National Defense of the People’s Republic of China.

During the visit, Chinese Minister of National Defense Admiral Dong Jun welcomed the Myanmar delegation with a guard of honour at the Beijing International Convention Center. The two sides discussed Myanmar-China defence cooperation and matters related to peace and stability along the border areas of the two countries.

In the evening, the Union Minister and the Myanmar delegation attended a welcome dinner hosted by the People’s Liberation Army of China to mark the opening of the forum.

On 16 September, the delegation attended the first-day plenary session of the forum. The Union Minister subsequently held informal bilateral meetings with defence ministers from regional and neighbouring countries participating in the forum. In the evening, he attended a dinner hosted by the Chinese Minister of National Defense at the Military Museum in Beijing.

On 17 September, the Union Minister attended the second-day plenary session held at the Beijing International Convention Center and participated in discussions on the theme “Challenges and Roles of Developing Countries”, responding to questions from participants. More than 100 countries were represented at the 13th Beijing Xiangshan Forum, which was attended by defence ministers, senior security officials and international security and defence scholars.

During the visit, the Myanmar delegation also visited military technology companies in Beijing.

The Union Minister later visited the Myanmar Embassy in Beijing and met with officials, military personnel, family members and trainees from the Embassy and Defence Attaché Office.
