13th AMMDM in Cambodia: Myanmar delegation led by MoSWRR UM attended

A Myanmar delegation, led by Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief, and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win is attending the 13th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Disaster Management and Related Meetings, held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, from October 15 to October 17, 2025.

On October 15, the first day of the meetings, the 13th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Disaster Management was held. Welcoming addresses were delivered by ASEAN Secretary-General Dr. Kao Kim Hourn and His Excellency Kitte Sangahak Bandith Kun Kim, Senior Minister, First Vice President of Cambodia, and Chair of the 13th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Disaster Management.

Following this, the ASEAN Agreement on Disaster Management and Emergency Response (AADMER) Work Programme (2026-2030) was introduced via a documentary video. Subsequently, several videos were shown, including a commemorative video marking the 20th anniversary of AADMER implementation, a commemorative ASEAN magazine documentary video, a video message from the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) to the Ministerial Meeting, and a documentary video commemorating Cambodia's 2025 International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction.

The Ministerial Meeting continued, with Disaster Management Ministers from ASEAN countries delivering country statements on their respective national disaster management efforts. The Union Minister discussed that Myanmar, in collaboration with ASEAN Member States, Dialogue Partners, and partner organizations, will actively participate and cooperate in the implementation of the AADMER 2026-2030 activities to achieve a safer, more secure, and disaster-resilient ASEAN etc.

In the afternoon, the Union Minister held a separate meeting with ASEAN Secretary-General Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, where they exchanged views and discussed ongoing earthquake response and recovery efforts, as well as regional disaster management activities.
