Twelve people died and 50 were hospitalized in serious condition on Wednesday after taking allegedly adulterated cocaine near Argentina's capital Buenos Aires. The police began a frantic search for more cocaine from the same dealer to prevent further casualties.

The main hypothesis is that the drug was intentionally adulterated in the context of a war between drug gangs. Experts are still analyzing the drug to determine the cause of the poisonings. Police identified "Puerta 8" neighborhood in the district of San Martín - a suburb to the north of the Argentine capital - as the place from which the drug was sold, and a dozen people were arrested in a raid there.
