
One person was killed and five others were injured Thursday after a portion of a metro rail station collapsed in the Indian capital city of New Delhi, officials said. According to the officials, the boundary wall of the elevated platform fell on the road below.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has suspended two officials, a manager and a junior engineer, from the civil department pending enquiry. It has also ordered a probe into the incident. The DMRC has announced a compensation of 2.5 million rupees to the next of kin of the deceased, 6,025 dollars for the grievously injured, and 1,205 dollars for the persons with minor injuries.
