Indonesia will host the 42nd World Tourism Day celebration in Bali on the 27th of September this year. Also, in Myanmar, to mark the Day, preparations are underway to hold a celebration in Nay Pyi Taw under the leadership of the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism.

The theme for the 42nd World Tourism Day in the year of 2022 is “Rethinking Tourism” and it focuses on re-imaging the sector’s growth both in terms of size and relevance.

Zeyar Myo Aung, Deputy Director General, Directorate of Hotels & Tourism said “We will celebrate the World Tourism day in Nay Pyi Taw under the leadership of Ministry of Hotels and Tourism. The tourism sector has been mostly affected by COVID-19 disease and it has changed the options of tourists who wish to choose better specific and healthy destinations. They are more interested in the less populous area of for free visits. Based on their changes, we should review and change policies of tourism sector as the theme of this year.”

Myanmar has been participating in the World Tourism Day celebration every year since 2012 and will celebrate this year in line with the theme, including photo contest, essay competitions, entrepreneurship competitions related to tourism sector.
