Xi meets with President of Swiss Confederation

Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Swiss Confederation President Guy Parmelin in Beijing on Friday to discuss bilateral relations, economic cooperation and China-Europe trade ties. Xi called for stronger cooperation in trade, innovation, artificial intelligence, green energy and scientific research.

He also urged both countries to support multilateralism and strengthen cooperation in global governance. Parmelin said Switzerland values its relations with China and seeks to expand cooperation in trade, investment, research and innovation.

Following the meeting, the two leaders witnessed the signing of a protocol on upgrading the China-Switzerland Free Trade Agreement and several cooperation documents covering scientific research, employment and media.
