First-ever sighting of a North American bird species recorded in Türkiye

First-ever sighting of a North American bird species recorded in Türkiye.  The Ulualan area, where the Manavgat River flows into the Mediterranean Sea, has become home to a bird species recorded in Türkiye for the first time.

The bird, a buff-breasted sandpiper, was spotted in the morning and quickly attracted the attention of birdwatchers.

The number of bird species recorded in Türkiye has now risen to 506. The bird was first noticed by a Dutch birdwatcher in the area. Members of the Antalya Birdwatching Society then travelled to the site and photographed the rare species. Birdwatchers from across Türkiye have also started travelling to Manavgat in the hope of seeing it.
