10,000 civil servants to move to Sejong

Starting next year, 44 more government agencies in Seoul metropolitan area will relocate to Sejong to promote balanced regional development, with some 10,000 civil servants expected to change work locations by 2031.

Next year, 27 agencies that do not require exclusive buildings will be relocated first. The relocation cost is expected to surpass around USD 2.2 billion for office building construction alone. Additional expenses will be needed for transportation and relocation for public officials and their families. The government will announce relocation plans for public institutions as well within this year.
