President U Min Aung Hlaing met with regional, district, and township-level officials, town elders, and micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) business owners from Tanintharyi Region in Dawei to discuss regional development matters.

This discussion focused on regional data and local development needs, current research and operational efforts to advance oil palm cultivation and boost production yields, fishery production and export capabilities, ongoing efforts to promote the regional education, health, and social sectors, reduction in airfare rates for airlines operating flights to Tanintharyi Region, potential regional development opportunities arising alongside the implementation of the Dawei Deep Seaport and Special Economic Zone (SEZ) project and imperative need for national political changes and educational reforms.

In his remarks regarding regional development, the President stated that although Tanintharyi Region possesses strong natural foundations, fertile land, and rich resources, political instigation and incitement have led to security vulnerabilities and unrest in certain areas, thereby creating limitations on carrying out development activities.

He stressed that only educated individuals can become quality human resources capable of discerning right from wrong and cause from effect, thereby better serving the interests of the region and the country. Consequently, educational reforms must be carried out without fail. He also encouraged all stakeholders to work together collaboratively, noting that developing agriculture- and livestock-based manufacturing industries as well as local tourism and ensuring the growth of each individual region, will ultimately drive the national economy forward.

Afterward, the President toured the exhibition booths displaying products from local micro, small, and medium enterprises. On the same day, the President visited the Tatmadaw Hospital in Dawei to inspect and offer words of encouragement to Tatmadaw members and Myanmar Police Force personnel undergoing treatment for injuries sustained while performing national defense and security duties. He greeted them warmly and presented them with cash rewards and food items. The President then inquired about and fulfilled the needs of the hospital, presenting cash awards to the hospital staff.
