Syria, EU discuss new partnership in Damascus

EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas met Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani in Damascus as the two sides seek to deepen relations. Al-Shaibani said Syria and the EU discussed a new partnership agreement and cooperation on energy and Mediterranean security.

During the press conference, al-Shaibani also discussed Syrian efforts on internal security, combating narcotics and human trafficking, as well as issues with international dimensions, including closing the file on weapons of mass destruction.
