China's Xi to visit US for talks with Trump

China's Foreign Ministry has announced that President Xi Jinping will pay a state visit to the United States from Wednesday to Friday for talks with US President Donald Trump.

This marks the second US-China summit this year, following Trump's visit to China in May. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun told reporters that the two leaders will exchange views on major global issues. The Trump-Xi summit agenda is also expected to cover artificial intelligence, a field the two countries are vying to lead, as well as economic and trade issues, including the current US-China trade truce, which is set to expire in November. The two leaders are also expected to exchange views on Taiwan and the situation in Iran.
