Fidel Castro’s legacy continues in Viet Nam-Cuba ties

Viet Nam and Cuba are marking the centenary of the birth of Fidel Castro, the late Cuban president and revolutionary leader. The anniversary is renewing attention to his political legacy and influence on bilateral ties. Scholars and diplomats from both countries gathered in Hanoi on Friday to reflect on his historical significance and the evolution of Viet Nam–Cuba relations.

The conference is also looking at how that history can be carried forward through education and research. Discussions include the study of Ho Chi Minh Thought in Cuba and Fidel Castro’s political thought in Viet Nam, as well as prospects for joint research and academic exchanges.
