Fidan visits Syria

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan traveled to Damascus, Syria, on Sunday, for official high-level talks with Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani.

The two foreign ministers discussed the self-dissolution of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) / YPG and their full integration into formal Syrian state institutions under centralized government authority. Türkiye and Syria agreed to establish a joint ministerial committee aimed at accelerating bilateral ties, economic recovery, energy projects, border security, and regional transit corridors.
