Pope Leo XIV called for an end to global conflicts and prays for people who have lost loved ones to violence in war, during an All Souls' Day commemoration on Monday at Rome's Verano Cemetery.

Focusing on Christ's Beatitudes ("Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted"), he prayed that "the tears of so many mothers, so many children, and so many elderly people move the consciences of those who have the power to silence the weapons".

He offered special prayers for families and loved ones recently bereaved by armed conflicts, reinforcing that faith transforms rather than breaks the bond between the living and the departed.
