India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar said India-Viet Nam relations have progressed significantly since the last Joint Commission Meeting held three years ago.

Speaking to Vietnamese Foreign Affairs Minister Le Hoai Trung during the 19th Joint Commission Meeting, he pointed to recent high-level engagements, including President To Lam’s state visit. Jaishankar noted that during President To Lam’s visit, India and Vietnam elevated their relationship to an enhanced comprehensive strategic partnership.

He also said both countries should convert the current political momentum into concrete and tangible outcomes. Describing Viet Nam as a key partner, Jaishankar said the country holds an important place in India’s Act East policy, MAHASAGAR vision, and Indo-Pacific outreach.
