European leaders arrive for EU-Arctic Summit in Finland

European leaders Kaja Kallas and Jozef Sikela arrived on Sunday in Rovaniemi, Finland, ahead of a summit to discuss how to strengthen the EU's presence in the Arctic amid an international showdown over the strategic region.

Key topics include securing military mobility infrastructure, boosting defense allocations across the High North, pooling European icebreaking capacity. This meeting is the third high-level security summit hosted by Finland in northern locations over the past two years, following the North-South Summit in Saariselkä (December 2024) and the Eastern Flank Summit in Helsinki (December 2025).
