









The opening ceremony of the 27th Yangon Region Myanmar Traditional Cultural Performing Arts Competition covering the Insein, Taikkyi, and Twante districts, was held Tuesday morning at the Myanmar Convention Centre (MCC) in Mayangone Township, Yangon Region.
At the ceremony, Patron of the Organizing Committee for the 27th Yangon Region Myanmar Traditional Cultural Performing Arts Competition, Yangon Region Chief Minister, U Aung Naing Thu, delivered the opening remarks and officially opened the event by cutting a ceremonial ribbon.
Following the opening, performances were presented by a traditional Myanmar saing waing ensemble, as well as Bagan traditional dances and the Sin Taw Pyain dance. The Chief Minister then presented cash awards to the performing groups.
A total of 51 contestants participated in the district-level competition, representing the Insein, Taikkyi, and Twante districts, across the various competition categories.
Afterward, the 2026 International Literacy Day ceremony was also held at the Basic Education (Training) High School in Kamayut Township, Yangon Region. Those attending included Yangon Region Chief Minister, U Aung Naing Thu, Chief Justice of Region High Court Daw Sanda Thwe , members of the Yangon Region Government, officials from various government departments, teachers, students and other responsible officials, it’s reported.
