Continuous heavy rainfall and a breach of the Ngawan River embankment have caused flooding in Laymyethna Township, Ayeyarwady Region, affecting neighborhoods and surrounding villages, with temporary relief camps established for displaced residents. Union Minister for Immigration and Population U Myint Kyaing and other concerned officials visited flood relief camps in Laymyethna, Kyonpyaw and YeKyi townships and township immigration office in Hinthada Township on September 7. He inspected the issuance and re-verification of household population lists, Citizenship Scrutiny Cards and UID numbers through the e-ID and La Min Projects, including assistance for residents whose documents were lost or damaged in the floods.

During the meeting with flood-affected residents, the Union Minister provided rice and food supplies. He also offered cash assistance to staff working at the affected township offices. A total of 150 bags of rice were provided for flood victims from three relief camps in Laymyethna, while 100 bags were provided at the Kyonpyaw relief camp, along with 50 bags for local residents. Another 50 bags were provided at the YeKyi relief camp.

He also coordinated the needs for the issuance and restoration of household population records and identity documents. He then inspected the systematic maintenance of records at township offices and assured flood-affected residents of continued relief assistance and long-term measures to prevent future flooding. The Union Minister then warmly greeted the flood-affected residents.
