Traditional Culture : Dawei Traditional Textile Fashion Competition

The Dawei Traditional Textile Fashion Competition 2026 was held in Dawei on September 5. The event was organized by the Dawei National Unity Committee (Central), with the support of the Tanintharyi Region Government.

Chief Minister U Zaw Naing Oo attended the event and delivered a speech. He encouraged young people to preserve traditional culture while developing modern designs that could reach international audiences.

The event featured a traditional wedding ceremony demonstration and a display of a Dawei traditional costume that won the National Costume Stage Performance Award at Miss Grand Myanmar 2026. Awards were also presented for the best traditional outfits, and traditional hairstyles were showcased.

A total of 17 contestants took part in the traditional Dawei clothing competition. The event aimed to provide an opportunity to showcase the traditional culture, clothing, hairstyles and artistic heritage of the Dawei area.
