The 15th National Conference of Teachers opened in Pyongyang on September 2. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un personally attended and delivered the opening speech.

Kim Jong Un emphasized that education is the "most important state affair that cannot and should not lag behind the work of any other fields". He praised teachers across the nation as "patriots" who stand at the forefront of raising the country's next generation. Kim described ongoing changes in education including its structure, content, and environment as a fundamental "revolution" at a critical juncture. This marks the first time North Korea has convened the National Conference of Teachers since the 14th edition held in February 2019.
