


Destry Damayanti was sworn in as governor of Bank Indonesia on Wednesday, becoming the first woman to lead the country's central bank.
Destry took the oath of office before Supreme Court Chief Justice Sunarto in Jakarta, alongside Aida S. Budiman, who was sworn in as senior deputy governor, and Solikin M. Juhro as deputy governor. All three will serve five-year terms through 2031. Destry had served as acting governor since Perry Warjiyo resigned in July. She previously served as the central bank's senior deputy governor from 2019. During her confirmation hearing, Destry pledged to keep the central bank responsive to economic challenges while maintaining financial stability and supporting sustainable economic growth.
