








Organized by Kayah State Youth Affairs Committee, a youth dialogue titled “Drug and Gambling Free Youth Community” was held in Loikaw on Wednesday. Union Minister for Information U Htein Lin attended the event and delivered remarks.
The Union Minister highlighted the government’s concerted efforts to nurture an outstanding and empowered youth community possessing five key strengths, while calling on young people to actively engage in measures to combat drug abuse and gambling, which pose serious threats to their future prospects and could hinder the nation’s progress and development.
During the event, MRTV DTH satellites and CANAL+ sets were provided to Kayah State Government and Regional Control Command respectively. This was followed by the discussion titled “The Negative Impacts of Gambling, Preventive Measures, and the Role of Youth”, featuring constructive exchanges of views and ideas among students from the Education Degree College.
The Union Minister then proceeded to Information and Public Relations Department, Loikaw District Office and met with the staff from MRTV Relay Station and IPRD. The Union Minister instructed to emphasize on regional development process, socio-economic life of people, and raising public awareness through media platforms and provided foodstuff and cash assistance. Subsequently, the Union Minister inspected renovation of the office, children reading space, library and a small museum. He also oversaw the old cinema in Loikaw and Loikaw Book shop.
