Union Minister U Mya Tun Oo of the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Digital Development and Communications traveled by RBE train from Pyin Oo Lwin Station to Goteik Station in the morning of August 31, accompanied by officials.

During the trip, the Union Minister inspected the condition of the railway track, the cleanliness and appearance of the stations, and the historic Goteik Viaduct, and gave necessary instructions. Upon arrival at Goteik Station, the Union Minister instructed officials to carry out necessary repairs and improvements to ensure the cleanliness and good condition of the station and staff housings.

He also instructed them to undertake additional earth filling on the right side of the entrance to the bridge on the Pyin Oo Lwin side. The Union Minister then traveled by RBE train across the historic Goteik Viaduct and inspected measures taken to maintain the structural integrity and cleanliness of the bridge, including painting and repairs, as well as the fencing around the bases of the bridge pillars.

He instructed officials to systematically maintain these works to prevent deterioration, construct drainage outlets to prevent water from accumulating on the bridge deck, and replace deteriorated bridge sleepers.

Due to the heavy rainfall in Naungcho Township, sections of the Naungcho –Goteik railway line were previously inundated by floodwaters. As repairs to the affected railway section have now been completed, the temporarily suspended Pyin Oo Lwin–Goteik down and up train services will resume their regular weekly operations starting this coming Saturday, it’s reported.
