Support for Expansion : Cotton-based textile MSMEs in Wundwin Township

Efforts are underway to promote cotton-based textile MSMEs in Wundwin Township of Meiktila District in Mandalay Region. On August 29, Chairman of the MSME Development Agency, Deputy Minister for Industry and MSME Development Dr. Aung Zeya, inspected textile and cotton-processing factories in Wundwin.

He called for stronger development of the local cotton production chain to meet domestic demand for clothing and textile products, reduce reliance on imported yarn, and increase the production of value-added cotton products.

He also urged businesses to expand production, develop new products, create more jobs for local youth, improve technology and product quality, and increase exports to earn more foreign currency.

During the visit to the factories including Leader of Textile, Min Yan Naing Cotton Mill, Nan Thike Taw Win Textile Mill, Kinnari Advanced Yarn and Longyi Factory, and Pho Pyone Cho Factory, the Deputy Minister observed cotton processing, yarn dyeing, quality testing, weaving and garment production.

It is learnt that Phoe Pyone Cho Factory is producing judo and karate uniforms for export to Japan under the Made in Myanmar brand. The factory also produces blankets and carpets for the domestic market.
