The number of missing people following catastrophic flash floods and landslides along the Nepal-China border has soared past 2,400, with nearly 600 confirmed dead. Rescue teams are deploying heavy machinery, drones, and watercraft to clear debris and reach survivors after a massive mudslide devastated Gyirong Port.

China launched a Level 2 national emergency response, sending hundreds of specialized personnel to the affected areas. On the Nepali side of the border, the military located people trapped in the tunnel of the Trishuli 3A hydropower project, where they were working to find a way in to extract the survivors.
