Chinese and Uzbek scientists are collaborating under the Shanghai Cooperation Organization green agenda to restore the degraded Aral Sea basin. By utilizing salt-tolerant plant seeds from China's Xinjiang region, the partnership has revegetated nearly 2 million hectares, weakened salt storms, and tripled cotton yields while cutting water use.

Researchers have introduced over 1.3 tons of specialized plant seeds suited for harsh saline-alkali conditions to stabilize the soil.
