Nepali government ordered rescue workers and residents near vulnerable river areas to move to higher ground after an upstream barrier lake in Tibet began overflowing and threatening a fresh flood. A natural dam formed by Wednesday's disaster in the Himalayan headwaters is overflowing.

It holds millions of cubic meters of water, raising fears of a sudden breach. Both Nepal and China temporarily halted and restricted active search and recovery missions in high-risk zones like Gyirong Port to protect emergency personnel.
