Nepal flash floods kill at least eight, rescue operations underway

An ice-rock avalanche triggered massive flash floods along the Bhote Koshi River in Nepal’s northern region on Wednesday, killing at least eight people and leaving hundreds missing.

Critical transport routes along with multiple hydropower projects accounting for over 430 MW of power capacity were heavily damaged. The Nepalese government deployed military personnel to conduct search and rescue operations. Authorities issued urgent evacuation warnings for communities residing along the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli river corridors.
