The Asia-Pacific Robot Contest (ABU Robocon) is marking its 25th anniversary in Hong Kong, bringing together 16 tertiary teams from 15 countries and regions for a showcase of engineering and technological innovation.

Addressing attendees at the opening ceremony, Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) Secretary-General Ahmed Nadeem welcomed participants to what he called a “vibrant” host city and thanked the Financial Secretary for serving as chief guest.

Highlighting the tournament’s silver jubilee, Nadeem noted that the contest has served as a launchpad for future innovators for a quarter of a century. He stressed that “Over the past 25 years, ABU Robocon has inspired thousands of students to become wonderful engineers through their robotic competitions and the robots that they have built”.
