ASEAN Navy Chiefs’ Meeting : Myanmar naval delegation returns from Thailand

A Myanmar naval delegation led by Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Htein Win returned to Yangon on August 21 after attending the 20th ASEAN Navy Chiefs’ Meeting (20th ANCM) in Bangkok of Thailand.

The delegation was welcomed at Yangon International Airport by Yangon Region Command Commander Brig-Gen Tin Min Lat and officials. The meeting was held from August 18 to 21 and brought together navy chiefs from ASEAN member states, along with representatives from the Lao People’s Army. Under the theme “One ASEAN, One Maritime Vision: Naval Cooperation for Maritime Prosperity and Sustainability in ASEAN,” the participants discussed regional maritime security, blue economy development, environmental sustainability and naval cooperation.

Admiral Htein Win shared Myanmar’s views on promoting maritime prosperity and the blue economy, protecting the marine environment and addressing maritime challenges through cooperation among ASEAN navies.

During the visit, he also held separate meetings with the Thai and Vietnamese Navy Chiefs to exchange views on naval cooperation. The ASEAN naval chiefs also visited the Rattanakosin Exhibition Hall in Bangkok and attended a dinner hosted by the Thai Navy Chief.
