Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko welcomed President U Min Aung Hlaing at the Presidential Palace in Belarus on Friday morning, during the later official visit to the country.

The ceremony was attended by the delegation member Union Ministers, senior military officers, deputy ministers and officials as well as senior government officials from Belarus. The two Presidents later held a separate meeting.

The Belarusian president praised Myanmar’s efforts toward political stability and said Belarus is ready to provide further assistance as Myanmar’s government works to meet the needs of its people. He added that both sides will continue implementing the agreements and plans discussed during their meetings.

He also thanked the Belarusian president for recognizing Myanmar’s recent election and said the elected government will continue working to advance the country along a stable democratic path.

He added that Myanmar plans to hold a By-election in early 2027 and intends to invite international election observers, including observers from Belarus. The two Presidents later discussed plans to strengthen diplomatic relations, including upgrading Myanmar’s Consulate General in Belarus to an embassy.

The two sides also discussed cooperation in defence and security, space technology, political developments, economic development and peace efforts. They exchanged views on expanding Myanmar’s regional and international cooperation and further strengthening friendly relations between the two countries.
